Day 8: Darkness and Colour

I woke up to utter darkness this morning. The rain had obviously not heard my plea yesterday, because it was pouring. I did my Sun Salutation (kind of ironic, eh?) and went back to bed. But then I decided - this could not go on, spending my days lumbering around my flat and posting blog entries about it in the evening. I needed some colour therapy to fight the sky’s greyness.

And where better to accomplish this than on the fresh food market? I love walking around any farmers’ market and looking at the colourful produce, but the market here in Jaén is simply a-ma-zing! The stalls offer a gazillion different types of fruits and vegetables which seem exotic and rare to me, but which can be got here for a song, like a kilo of figs for 1,50, or pomegranates for 2€, can you imagine? Other vendors sell rows and rows of fresh mariscos on ice, fish, shrimp, oysters, clams, simply anything you can think of. Others still display sausages and hams hanging on strings, spices in big jars sold by grams, mouthwatering pastries, I could go on... But why don’t you take a look at the pictures instead and get a little bit of your own colour therapy? I know, lucky me!

Deň 8: Temnota a farby

Dnes som sa zobudila do úplnej tmy. Dážď zjavne nevyslyšal moje včerajšie prosby, lebo lialo. Zacvičila som svoj raňajší pozdrav slnku (trochu irónia, no nie?) a zaliezla naspať do postele. Ale potom som sa rozhodla - tak takto by to ďalej nešlo, tráviť celé dni ponevieraním sa po byte a večer o tom písať články na blog. Čo som potrebovala na zdolanie sivej oblohy bolo trochu farebnej terapie.

A existuje lepšie miesto kde si ju dopriať, než na trhu s potravinami? Rada sa prechádzam po akomkoľvek trhovisku a obzerám si farebný tovar, ale tržnica tu v Jaén je proste ÚŽASNÁ! V stánkoch ponúkajú milión rôzných druhov ovocia a zeleniny, ktoré sa mne zdajú exotické a vzácne, ale to ich môžem kúpiť za babku, napríklad kilo fíg za 1,50, alebo granátové jablká za 2€, no viete si to predstaviť? Iní predavači majú kopy čerstvých mariscos vystavené na ľade, ryby, krevety, ustrice, mušle, jednoducho čokoľvek na čo pomyslíte. Ďalší majú na povrazoch rozvešané klobásy a šunky, veľké nádoby plné korenín predávaných na gramy, fantastické sladké pečivo, no mohla by som ešte dlho pokračovať... Ale čo takto si radšej prezrieť fotky a dať si tiež trocha farebnej terapie? Ja viem, mám šťastie!
