Weeks 6 and 7: Vacation in March

I am SO SORRY for not having uploaded any new pictures and keeping you updated on my daily life here in Jaén for such a long time, but the thing is—I haven't had any daily life for the past three weeks. That is not to say that I was not enjoying myself. In fact, the opposite is true: I had the best three weeks in Spain ever. I spent half of the time travelling, I taught a course on crime fiction here at the university, I got to see my friend from Paris (as you read in the last post) and I met up with my sister and we went to Seville and.... drumroll... to the Canary Islands! Awesome, right? And to finish up the month in style, I saw an Easter procession with Nazarenos, incense, marching band and all.

I hope you can forgive me for not writing, but as you can see, it's been quite hectic and I spent these last 3 days sleeping and eating all I need to finish before I go home for Easter (yes, I'm coming home, yay! but that also means there will not be any posts this week, either, because obviously I cannot take photos of Spain from Slovakia... So sorry for that in advance.). How was your month of March? I hear there's some crazy weather going on in Slovakia? I hope it gets warmer before I come.

Týždne 6 a 7: Dovolenka v marci

Naozaj sa veľmi ospravedlňujem, že som sem tak dlho nepridala žiadne nové obrázky a nepodelila sa o zážitky z môjho každodenného života, ale problém bol, že za posledné tri týždňe som prakticky nemala každodenný život. Tým v žiadnom prípade nechcem povedať, že som sa mala zle. Opak je pravdou: zažila som svoje zatiaľ najlepšie obdobie v Španielsku. Polovicu času som strávila cestovaním, učila som tu na univerzite kurz o detektívnom románe, stretla som sa s kamarátkou z Paríža (o čom som písala v minulom príspevku) a s mojou sestrou sme šli na výlet do Sevilly a... pripravte sa na to... na Kanárske ostrovy! Pecka, nie? A aby som tento mesiac ukončila štýlovo, bola som sa včera pozrieť na veľkonočnú procesiu komplet ako má byť: Nazarenos, kadidlo, dychovka a tak.

Dúfam, že mi odpustíte, že som teda nič nenapísala, ale ako vidíte mala som to trochu hektické a posledné tri dni som strávila spaním a dojedaním všetkého, čo by sa pokazilo kým budem na Veľkú noc doma (áno, prídem domov, juchú!, ale to zároveň znamená, že tento týždeň zase nebudem blogovať, pretože—logicky—nemôžem fotiť Španielsko zo Slovenska...Takže sa za to dopredu ospravedlňujem). A aký bol Váš marec—mesiac knihy? Dopočula som sa, že na Slovensku sa zbláznilo počasie? Tak len dúfam, že sa trochu zlepší kým prídem.

This art restoration workshop is set up right in the middle of the cathedral (in front of Columbus's son's tomb).

Finally snails for lunch. Cabrillas, not caracoles, but who am I trying to fool, I could not tell one type snail from another, anyway.
Konečne sme mali na obed slimáky. Boli to síce cabrillas, nie caracoles, ale na čo sa to hrám, aj tak by som rôzne druhy slimákov nedokázala rozoznať.

Our balcony in awesome Big Fish Hostel. If you're going to Las Palmas, I definitely recommend staying there. It's right on the beach.
Náš balkón v skvelom Big Fish hosteli. Ak sa chystáte do Las Palmas, odporúčam, aby ste určite bývali tam. Je to priamo na pláži.

Playa de Maspalomas and the Atlantic ocean. Only later did we find out that it is a nudist beach. We kept our clothes on, though.

We changed buses in Arucas, a cute historic village with expensive ice cream.

How do I know that I'm an adult? I don't get to go to the spring party because I teach classes in the morning, while my students get to skip morning class and go to the party instead.
Ako spoznám, že som už dospelá? Zatiaľ čo ja musím vynechať jarnú párty a prísť učiť raňajšie hodiny, moji študenti idú na párty a z raňajších hodín sa ulejú.
